Engagement: In Depth


Creating more sustainable products, through using more sustainable materials and intermediate processing techniques.

Just Brands has maintained its product strategy, including a commitment and detailed plan to reduce its impact, resulting in a level 1 score of 86%. This year, 22% of the brand’s total product collection contained more sustainable materials and the brand continues to support and train its internal teams on the use of more sustainable fibres, resulting in a level 2 score of 77%. Due to its use of more sustainable materials totalling 22% Just Brands scored on one requirement in level 3, resulting is a score of 4%. The brand did not submit further evidence at this level.

Managing labour standards and human rights in the supply chain.

Just Brands has an overarching strategy for managing human rights and labour standards in its supply chain. The brand’s strategy is underpinned by the BSCI, resulting in a level 1 score of 90%. Just Brands supports its labour standards and human rights strategy with clear mid-to-long term targets and has assigned internal resources to ensure it reaches these targets. The brand has a monitoring process in place to record its suppliers’ compliance. There remains scope to increase the detail of its compliance monitoring, resulting in a score of 58% for level 2. This year, Just Brands were not assessed at level 3.

Communicating social and environmental impacts and activities with clarity and completeness.

Just Brands acknowledges the social and environmental impacts of its supply chain and own operations and commits to reducing them. There is room for Just Brands to communicate with consumers at point of sale, resulting in a level 1 score of 69%. Just Brands publicly discloses its suppliers, along with their location. The brand has set broad targets to improve its social as well as environmental impacts, however there are no clear timelines for these targets. This results in a level 2 score of 50%. Just Brands did not submit evidence for level 3, which evaluates best practice.

Just Brands commits to reducing the environmental impacts of its own operations through a strategy which includes water, waste, energy and greenhouse gases reduction activities. There is an opportunity for the brand to ensure legal compliance relevant to environmental impacts from its own operations. These foundational activities have resulted in a level 1 score of 77%. The brand’s own operations strategy includes SMART targets with specific timelines and progress monitoring. There is room for the brand to monitor and measure GHG emissions and prioritise and implement GHG reduction activities. These activities have resulted in a level 2 score of 29%. Just Brands did not submit level 3 evidence for this cycle.
